Michel Jordi est un concepteur horloger que le succès a porté du pinacle aux enfers. Il a gagné sa notoriété avec la montre clip à la fin des années 1980. Se faisant mentor du folklore suisse, il a fait fortune avec la montre ethno. Victime de son succès, les imitations ont ensuite mises son entreprise éponyme au pied du mur.
Michel Jordi lança la « Twins » en 2004, la première montre au monde qui grâce à son ingénieux Twist-lock System s’ouvre en éventail, une nouvelle façon de lire l’heure était née.
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry définissait ainsi la perfection : « la perfection est atteinte non pas lorsqu’il n’y a plus rien à ajouter, mais lorsqu’il n’y a plus rien à ôter… »
En 2011 il lance sa marque Jordi Swiss Icon. Tout commence lors d’une randonnée dans la vallée du Rhône en passant par le col de la Furka: « Je me suis arrêté à la source du Rhône et de là, dans cet endroit mystique, j’ai vu un paysage d’une beauté à couper le souffle, j’ai ressenti la force de la nature, contemplé les Alpes majesteuses, les glaciers éternels, le ciel bleu qui ne cesse de rejoindre l’horizon », raconte Michel Jordi. Pour lui, le Rhône vieux de millions d’années symbolise l’origine et la force de son projet. « A ce moment, mon coeur s’est mis à battre plus vite et j’ai pensé: voici mon pays, voici la Suisse, c’est ici que je suis chez moi! » Cet instant a influencé son nouveau design. Ainsi la montre JORDI « Swiss Icon » emprunte sa forme arrondie aux courbes millénaires d’un galet du rhône.

J’ai eu le plaisir de rencontrer et de bavarder avec Michel Jordi qui est un passionné de belle horlogerie. J’aimerais donc lui rendre hommage pour sa recherche de la perfection et de la mise en valeur du travail artisanal.
