Selon une étude publiée par Incapsula, 51% du trafic Web serait le fait de différents bots. La moitié de la fréquentation d’un site provient donc de visiteurs… non humains. Des visiteurs aux intentions plus ou moins louables, en témoigne ce chiffre surprenant de 31% de visiteurs mal intentionnés. Ces visiteurs indésirables sont des hackers, spambots, scrapers et espions de toutes sortes qui recueillent des renseignements commerciaux et des données clients depuis des sites peu méfiants.
Avec la dénomination hackers ( 5 % du trafic ), Incapsula fait référence aux logiciels de hacking utilisés pour des attaques par déni de service DDOS qui vont faire tomber le site.
Scrapers ( gratteurs 5 % ) ce sont des robots ( bots ) qui copient du contenu d’autres sites et le publient sur leur propre site afin d’obtenir du trafic des moteurs de recherche. Les spambots ( 2 % ) sont des commentaires de spam générés automatiquement sur des sites, blogs et forums. Quant aux espions ( 19 % ), ils recherchent des mots clés et des techniques d’optimisation pour les moteurs de recherche ( SEO ) afin de connaître les recettes des sites concurrents.

Ce trafic non humain – considéré nuisible – est complété par 20 % de trafic issu des moteurs de recherche qui ne revêt évidemment pas de caractère nocif, comme, par exemple, googlebot.

Il faut donc protéger son site de ces vilains bots qui au mieux consomment votre passante et au pire bloquent votre serveur.
