Twitter est l’oiseau Roi du Web. Cet outil de réseau social et de microbloging qui permet à l’utilisateur d’envoyer gratuitement des messages brefs de 140 caractères, est devenu en 5 ans le babillage indispensable du Web.
Twitter a été créé à New York au sein de la startup Odeo Inc. fondée par Noah Glass et Evan Williams. Noah Glass commercialisait AudioBlogger, une application permettant de publier des fichiers audio sur un blog au moyen d’un téléphone. Evan Williams est connu pour être entre autres le cofondateur de la société Pyra Labs qui est à l’origine de la plateforme de blogs Blogger, rachetée par Google en 2003. Odeo proposait une plateforme d’hébergement, de diffusion et d’enregistrement de podcasts. Odeo podcast a fermé.
Depuis Twitter a grandi, les gazouillis deviennent des sources d’informations pour les journalistes (avec des fois des dérapages).
Twitter s’est fortifié avec son API. Plusieurs sociétés ont créés des applications avec celle ci. Le site twitter n’a pas beaucoup évolué depuis sa première mouture, ce qui a permis à d’autres développeurs d’avancer leurs idées.
Mais Twitter vient de mettre un « hola » aux clients Twitter, pour reprendre le contrôle de ses données.
Dans les différentes civilisations pré-colombiennes, l’oiseau est sacré.
Une légende conte que jadis, le Quetzal, fier et ambitieux, voulut devenir roi ! Il se para des plus belles plumes qu’il prit aux autres oiseaux.
Aujourd’hui, la civilisation Maya a depuis longtemps disparu d’Amérique centrale… et les populations du Quetzal s’effritent au rythme inlassable de la déforestation.
